HVAC Services

Requests for cooling, heating, heat pumps, thermostats, airflow, indoor air quality and preventive maintenance.

Introduction

Heating and cooling systems usually give warning before they stop working well: a longer run time, a new sound, a room that never quite matches the rest of the house. Easy Home Maintenance gives you a place to record those details while they are still fresh.

Requests can be about a system that is struggling now or about a seasonal check you would like to arrange in advance. We do not offer same-day, emergency or around-the-clock service, so please plan requests with that in mind.

What this covers

Areas included in hvac requests

Use these groupings to work out how to describe your own situation.

Air conditioning concerns

Cooling requests often start with air that is not cold enough, a system that runs constantly, or an outdoor unit that behaves differently than it used to. Note the thermostat setting and the temperature the house actually reaches.

  • Weak or warm air from vents
  • System runs constantly without reaching the set point
  • Outdoor unit not starting or cycling oddly
  • Water or ice around indoor equipment

Heating concerns

Heating issues range from no heat at all to short cycling and uneven warmth. If the system produces a smell on first use of the season, describe the smell and whether it fades.

  • No heat or intermittent heat
  • Short cycling and frequent restarts
  • Pilot, ignition or startup concerns
  • Cold air from vents during a heating cycle

Heat pumps

Heat pumps behave differently from conventional systems, especially in shoulder seasons and defrost cycles. Say whether the concern happens in heating mode, cooling mode or both.

  • Reduced performance in cold weather
  • Defrost cycle questions
  • Auxiliary heat running more than expected
  • Noise from the outdoor unit

Thermostats

A thermostat problem can look exactly like an equipment problem. Include the make if you know it, whether the screen is responsive, and whether the schedule behaves as programmed.

  • Blank or unresponsive display
  • Temperature reading that seems inaccurate
  • Schedule and hold settings not applying
  • Smart thermostat installation enquiries

Airflow problems

Weak airflow is often a filter, duct or register issue rather than an equipment failure. Note when the filter was last changed and whether any rooms have closed or blocked vents.

  • Weak airflow from specific registers
  • Whistling or rattling ductwork
  • Filters that clog unusually fast
  • Rooms that never reach the set temperature

Indoor air quality

Dust, dryness, humidity and lingering odours are all connected to how a system moves and conditions air. Describe when the issue is worst and whether it changes with the season.

  • Persistent dust on surfaces after cleaning
  • Humidity that feels too high or too low
  • Filtration and air cleaner enquiries
  • Ventilation questions for tight homes

Preventive maintenance

Seasonal checks are usually easier to schedule before peak weather arrives. A maintenance request can be submitted even when nothing is wrong.

  • Pre-summer cooling check
  • Pre-winter heating check
  • Filter and drain line review
  • General condition review before a busy season

Unusual sounds, smells and uneven temperatures

New noises and odours are worth reporting quickly, and uneven temperatures between floors or rooms often point to airflow balance rather than equipment size. Describe which rooms differ and by how much if you have measured it.

  • Grinding, squealing or banging at startup
  • Burning or musty smells from vents
  • Upper floor much warmer than lower floor
  • One room consistently out of step with the rest

Signs assistance may be required

  • Energy use rises without a change in habits
  • The system runs far longer than it used to
  • Rooms differ noticeably in temperature
  • New rattles, squeals or grinding appear at startup
  • Vents smell musty or burnt when the system runs
  • Humidity feels wrong even when temperature is fine

What to include in your request

  • The type of system if you know it, such as furnace, central air or heat pump
  • What the thermostat is set to and what the house reaches
  • When the issue started and whether it is constant
  • When the filter was last replaced
  • Your ZIP Code and preferred scheduling window

The process

How the request process works

The same steps apply whether the request is small or large.

  1. 1

    Describe the need

Select HVAC in the form, add your ZIP Code and write what is happening in plain language.

  2. 2

    Review of your request

Your details are read in full and availability is assessed for that service in your ZIP Code.

  3. 3

    Follow-up and next steps

You are contacted about availability. Nothing is arranged until you agree to it.

Submitting a service request does not confirm an appointment.
