Plumbing Services

Requests for leaks, clogged drains, faucets, toilets, pipes, water heaters, water pressure and sump pumps.

Introduction

Plumbing problems are easier to solve when they are described early and precisely. Easy Home Maintenance gives you a clear form for reporting what is leaking, draining slowly or no longer holding pressure.

We do not promise emergency availability. If water is actively escaping, close the nearest shutoff valve or the main water shutoff first, protect the surrounding area, and then submit your request with a note that the water is off.

What this covers

Areas included in plumbing requests

Use these groupings to work out how to describe your own situation.

Leaks

Leaks range from a slow drip at a joint to water appearing through a ceiling. Note where the water shows, whether it is constant, and whether it relates to using a specific fixture.

  • Drips at supply lines and shutoff valves
  • Water stains on ceilings or walls
  • Puddles inside vanity or sink cabinets
  • Damp spots that reappear after drying

Clogged drains

Slow drains often build over months. Mention whether one fixture or several are affected, because multiple slow drains point to a different cause than a single one.

  • Slow sink, tub and shower drains
  • Repeated kitchen drain blockages
  • Gurgling sounds from nearby fixtures
  • Backups affecting more than one fixture

Faucets and toilets

Fixtures are the most visible part of a plumbing system and the most common request topic. Include the room and whether you want repair or replacement.

  • Dripping or stiff faucets
  • Loose faucet bases and worn cartridges
  • Running or weak-flushing toilets
  • Fixture replacement enquiries

Pipes

Pipe requests include noise, corrosion, exposed lines in unheated spaces and questions about older materials. If you have had a previous repair in the same area, mention it.

  • Knocking or hammering when taps close
  • Visible corrosion or mineral crust at joints
  • Exposed pipes in garages, crawl spaces or attics
  • Questions about older pipe materials

Water heaters

Water that runs cold quickly, takes too long to arrive, or arrives discoloured is worth reporting. Include the type of heater if you know it and roughly how old it is.

  • Hot water running out quickly
  • Rumbling or popping noises from the tank
  • Water discolouration or odour
  • Tankless and replacement enquiries

Low water pressure

Pressure problems can affect the whole house or a single fixture, and the difference matters. Test a few taps before you submit so the description is accurate.

  • Pressure loss at one fixture only
  • Pressure loss throughout the house
  • Pressure that drops when other taps run
  • Aerator and cartridge blockages

Sump pumps where relevant

If your home has a sump pit, note whether the pump runs, how often it cycles, and whether the basement has taken on water recently.

  • Pump that does not start during heavy rain
  • Pump that cycles constantly
  • Discharge line and check valve questions
  • Backup pump enquiries

Water safety guidance

Know where your main shutoff is before you ever need it, and label it clearly. Turn off electricity to any area where water has pooled near outlets or equipment, and keep people away from standing water indoors until it has been assessed.

  • Locate and label the main water shutoff
  • Close the nearest fixture valve during a leak
  • Avoid using an affected circuit near standing water
  • Photograph damage before cleaning up if you can do so safely

Signs assistance may be required

  • Water bills rise without a change in usage
  • Multiple drains slow down at the same time
  • You hear running water when nothing is in use
  • Ceilings or walls show spreading stains
  • Hot water runs out much faster than before
  • There is a persistent damp smell near plumbing

What to include in your request

  • Where the water appears and how quickly it returns
  • Which fixtures are affected and which are fine
  • Whether you have closed a shutoff valve
  • Photos of the fixture, the connection points and any damage
  • Your ZIP Code and the best way to reach you

The process

How the request process works

The same steps apply whether the request is small or large.

  1. 1

    Describe the need

Select Plumbing in the form, add your ZIP Code and write what is happening in plain language.

  2. 2

    Review of your request

Your details are read in full and availability is assessed for that service in your ZIP Code.

  3. 3

    Follow-up and next steps

You are contacted about availability. Nothing is arranged until you agree to it.

Submitting a service request does not confirm an appointment.
